annie besant - an extraordinary woman
Annie Besant was a social activist who fought for woman’s access to birth control, marriage reform, labour reform and Indian Nationalism in the nineteenth century in England and India. A gifted and prodigious author and orator, she was involved with various social and political advocacy organisations lecturing worldwide, becoming President of the Indian National Congress. She joined the Theosophical Society after meeting Helena Blavatsky, becoming her protégé and later the Society’s President for over 25 years of what was a successful and sometimes controversial career. She presents a fascinating case study and after reviewing her life story we will examine her chart looking at some significant life events, her relationship with Leadbeater, and if time allows, explore the powerful esoteric signatures in this highly individual woman’s chart.
