Members meeting light on the path
Mabel Collins (1851-1927) the author of Light on the Path was a woman with many strings to her bow. A highly popular author of some 46 books mainly romantic fiction, she was a member of The Theosophical Society in England and a renowned medium who eventually spoke out against spiritualism as extremely dangerous. Mabel Collins was also a fashion columnist and part-owner of Pompadour Cosmetics, relatively unusual occupations for the anti-vivisectionist and passionate vegetarian which she was. Collins had a fraught relationship with H.P. Blavatsky, problematic for them both.
Ms Collins was introduced to Theosophy in 1881, and in 1884 wrote Light on the Path or acted as the amanuensis of Master Hilarion. Long regarded as one of the Theosophical classics, along with At the Feet of the Master and The Voice of the Silence, Light on the Path was written for the use of those who are already serious about self-mastery, liberation, or enlightenment. It has however a lot to offer beginners with an interest in spiritual evolution.
