The gospels, mary magdalene and the rise of the misogynist church
Inspired by the first objective of the Theosophical Society, "To form a nucleus of the Universal Brotherhood of Humanity without distinction of race, creed, sex, caste or colour", this talk will be presented on the occasion of International Women's Day 2024, and will explore the history of the Gospels, the figure of Mary Magdalene and the centuries old sexism within institutional Christianity.
Marco is a long-time member of the Adelaide Theosophical Society with a keen interest for Comparative Religion. Born and raised a Catholic Christian, he later preferred to pursue an understanding of Christianity through an independent research and hands-on approach that took him to places such as Israel, the birthplace of that religion, Malta, one of the earliest outposts, Rome, the "capital" of Christendom, and Assisi, the town of the famous Christian mystic Francis of Assisi.
