the path of the masters
‘The Path of the Masters’ by Dr Julian Johnson was the first book that drew me to Indian Mysticism when I was a young man and seeker. It outlines the journey of a disciple that is inextricably drawn to his Master – who he has not seen face - to- face but knows that he is destined to meet, Maharaj Sawan Singh Ji.
In 1939, travelling to India from America was quite a journey. The book is a comprehensive statement of Sant Mat, the teachings of the great spiritual Masters. After living with such as Master for almost seven years, the author gives an outline of Surat Shabd Yoga, the Yoga of the Audible Life Stream, which is the scientific system through which the Masters attain the highest degree of spiritual development.
We will compare the key tenants of the Sant Mat way of life with the three gems of Theosophy – namely – At the Feet of the Master, The Voice of the Silence, and Light on the Path.
