Theosophy Raw and Unfiltered Part One: Removing Some of the Filters

According to Theosophical teachings there is a continuous stream of guidance reaching out to us from ancient times, right up to modern-day Theosophy. In this series of four seminars, Dara Tatray will explore the deep roots of Theosophy as they are encountered in the psychology and cosmology of the Vedas, the Upanishads, and the Patañjali Yoga Sutras, providing a solid introduction to some of the key underlying tenets of the ancient wisdom.

Swami Nikhilananda once described the Upanishads as ‘… a trackless tropical forest, full of lush underbrush, weeds, thorns and stately trees,’ which yet yield ‘blossoms of rare beauty and fragrance.’ Perhaps many would agree that the same could be said of The Secret Doctrine and The Mahatma Letters the two principal primary sources of modern-day Theosophy.

The inherent difficulties of the literature are not insignificant, but the words carry tremendous potency, richly repaying close attention. These are teachings with the capacity to awaken wisdom and love. There is an energy behind them that can inspire selfless surrender without demanding anything, without selling anything. Pure expressions of truth. That is what has come down to us in the words of ancient seers and sages; and then again in the works of Helena P. Blavatsky and her teachers.

Sessions will include presentations, dialogue and some practical exercises.
