infinite zero - the self, emptiness and the crisis in science
Zero was adopted by Western culture when the Roman numeric system was replaced by the Hindi numeric system in the tenth-eleventh century. But the West never had such a notion as zero and erroneously embraced it within its reductionist notions.
The way Western history has been presented in our education system and books tends to have given credence to Western notions of philosophical and moral codes. Blind-sighting us to our approaches to the sciences, the legal system and systems of governance. This lack of acknowledgment of some of the fundamental influences of modern Western society has generally impeded modern civilisation from progressing spiritually and philosophically. It has also prevented science from progressing as well with its adherence to reductionism, the heart of which is materialism.
