Through her association with bees Sandy became involved with their broader well being and came to understand some of the fascinating behaviour that they display. The talk, based on her experience, explores their communication in the context of Nature and connectedness.
About the Speaker: Sandy Ullrich was a beekeeper for 15 years and founder of Adelaide Bee Sanctuary. Her aim was to raise awareness of the vital role that bees, and all pollinating insects, play in our eco-system and to our food security. Adelaide Bee Sanctuary beehives were located in, and around the city of Adelaide and all bees were rescued and sponsored by local government, businesses, orchardists and the backyard bee enthusiast.
Next to her beekeeping, Sandy’s career included being a registered nurse, researcher, and academic. She currently works in the vocational education and training sector as a librarian and educator.
